WELCOME!
Jan 2024
I'm Ray Moore, a Lions Club member with 50 years of service. I can never thank my sponsor enough, Lion Don Kemp, who thought, in the fall of 1973, that if I was "crazy" enough to work in a Lions food booth as a volunteer, twice in the same week when I didn't have to, then I was "crazy" enough to be a member of his club, the Cave Spring District Lions Club in Roanoke, VA. Moving to the Atlanta area in the late 70's, I transferred my membership to the East Cobb Lions Club in District 18-L. I've enjoyed helping others, especially through my club's vision screening program which has seen over 100,000 children over the past 9 years. We are the primary provider of this service in our local county school system. For 40 years, under my direction, my club provided holiday greetings, a warm meal, fruit, candy, a Christmas cake, and a small bag with personal care items to seniors who participate in the Meals On Wheels program here in Cobb County.
I've enjoyed meeting Lions from all over the world as I collected pins that feature lighthouses, turkeys, space shuttles, cornucopias, covered bridges, or out houses. I also collect matchbook covers related to the Lions Club and have what I believe may be the world's largest collection at over 700 covers. I've been collecting wooden nickels that were "minted" by Lions and I've added trade dollars, coins, medals and tokens too.
As a vanity project, I decided to display my collections. It has been more difficult than I imagined, but I've managed to stick with the project and have reached my goal.
ALL of my MATCHBOOK covers are online as well as ALL of my LIGHTHOUSE, CORNUCOPIA, COVERED BRIDGES, OUTHOUSE, SPACE SHUTTLE, and TURKEY pins and everything else as well.
Enjoy your visit, if you have an item that is not shown, I don't know about it! If you have an extra for trade, please let me know, I'd love to add it to my collection. If you have any questions, please ask. Check out my WANT LIST too!
